Stated First Edition, with code "G-F" which corresponds to Harper Brothers publish date of July, 1931. Black cloth binding with gilt lettering on spine and front board. Boards are lightly rubbed, spine and extremities are more moderately rubbed. Gilt on spine is not as bright as new, but gilt on front board remains quite bright. Front board is lightly soiled. Spine ends and corners of boards are lightly bumped, with slight fraying to the cloth at the corners, and one 1/8" closed tear at the head of the spine. Text block is slightly age-darkened. Light chipping to the edges of the frontispiece, and slight soiling to the upper edge of most plates (not affecting the images, and not affecting any text pages); otherwise all images are in near fine condition. Previous owner's name written in ink on front pastedown. Otherwise the interior is clean, bright and unmarked. Binding is tight, square and crisp, hinges are sound.
