Título: Patiala, Punjab. An Unused Vintage Menu Card...
Año de publicación: 1910
An unused menu card printed on off white card with the arms of the Maharaja of Patiala embossed in gilt at the head, 4.5 x 7ins [11.5 x 18cm]. Fine condition. A scarce ephemeral survival from the days of lavish princely hospitality. The use of English style armorials is something that the Princes began to adopt around the time of the great Imperial Assemblage at Delhi in 1877, although the system planned for the sub continent was never fully evolved. The state of Patiala was the most important of Sikh states in the Punjab and its most famous Maharaja was Bhupindra Singh who succeeded his father at the age of 9 in 1900. This type of card would have been used on great state occasions such as those when the Maharaja entertained important royal visitors both Indian and European or the Viceroy or regional Governors. It might also have been used at Patiala House in Delhi. Maximum shipping charge will be £1.50 UK, £4.10 airmail. N° de ref. de la librería 007735
