Descripción

8vo 8" - 9" tall; 346 pages; Hard cover in original light orange cloth. Snugly bound copy is clean; the only marks are the prior owner's manuscript ownership inscription inside the front cover. Note that the ISBN has been reused for a more recent paperback facsimile edition. The contents are obviously the same and the ISBN is shared. This is a more sturdily bound hard back. Light dust spotting to front edge of the page block and mild offset toning to the endpages from a now missing plain paper dust jacket. Solid clean; VG- to VG. N° de ref. de la librería 26209

Acerca de

Sinopsis:

This valuable work, the only published list of passengers for the period, originally appeared without an index. To facilitate searching through the many lists for a particular name we have compiled a complete index which lists both family and given names. The text itself contains 10,247 names arranged according to periodic returns by local Collectors of Customs. The data given includes the name, age, sex, occupation, and origin of each immigrant and the name of the ship on which he arrived. The arrangement is by ports, located mainly in Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Virginia.
