Sinopsis:

(English) Private investigator, Constitucion Elizondo, is known in the underworld for his cynicism, his efficiency and his unlimited toughness. Solving a new case in Mexico City, the private eye does not imagine that his life will change dramatically. Will he make government officials involved in drug trafficking pay for their crimes? Helplessly, Constitucion enters into a world where it will be difficult to get out unscathed; a world where blood, corruption and impunity are everyday thing. The reader will find in this novel, the painful reality that Mexico is living now, where justice by own hand appears to be the only option.

About the Author:

A Mexican novelist and journalist writing in Spanish, Guillermo Zambrano (Monterrey, NL. 1946), is the author of the extraordinary crime novel Pasaporte al infierno (2011), which is the first installment of his trilogy Lejos de todo. To complete this extensive work are now in preparation in the printing: Más allá del rencor y Muerte en el arrabal.
He is also the author of the historical novel México por asalto (2008), where he masterfully narrates the war of aggression by the U.S. to Mexico between 1846 and 1848, when Mexico lost half its territory.Zambrano has three other mystery novels: Los secretos de El Paraíso (1994), Los amores de una mujer decente (1991), Los crímenes de la calle del Seminario (1987).
He worked for fifteen years as editor and translator in the Spanish Service branch of the news agency Reuters, five years in Mexico and ten years in Miami, where he has been living since 1996. He currently works for BBC's Spanish Service in Miami.
In 1988, sent by a newspaper in Mexico City, he traveled to Vietnam to report on both the conditions of that country thirteen years after the fall of Saigon -today Ho Chi Minh City- and on the unification of South and North Vietnam after long and painful decades of war.
He began his professional life covering the police beat in a Mexican newspaper.
Zambrano admits that his experiences as a reporter of crime have slipped undeniably into his novels.
After his studies in journalism, but before devoting himself full-time to that profession, Zambrano traveled through Europe for two years. To pay for that trip, he sold encyclopedias door-to-door in Mexico City, and did translations of all sorts of texts. He then worked as a painter onboard a merchant ship, and after that, in Paris, he washed dishes at one of the restaurants in University City.
