Brown cloth covered boards with bright gilt titling to the spine and front cover. The edges are lightly rubbed. In the original publisher's pictorial dustjacket. The dustjacket is complete, but is a little 'tired', slightly edge creased/chipped and has two 'closed' tears with neat internal repairs and is 'yellowed' to the edges. The d/j is, however, now in a new protective clear - removable - bookfilm plastic cover and looks Near VG. The page fore-edges are lightly 'tanned' with age, o/w the book is internally Excellent with NO Inscriptions or Marks. 580pp. With 12 colour plates, and hundreds of black-and-white illustrations throughout the text. Six Appendices, Bibliography and 2 Indices.
