Título: THE OVERLOADED ARK
Editorial: London: Faber & Faber 1953
Año de publicación: 1953
FIRST EDITION. 8vo., pp. 9-236 plus index. Original green cloth, some staining to spine and slight wear on lower edge of cover, o/w sound. Interior clean. Dust jacket generally sound, but frayed and torn on head of spine. Illustrated throughout by Sabine Baur. When Gerald Durrell told John Yealland, his companion on their first animal collecting trip to the British Cameroons, that he was going to write about their experience, Yealland made the following statement, "Take my advice, old boy, and don't." Luckily Gerald Durrell didn't take his advice, and there followed this and his other much-praised books on collecting animals on some of the more inaccessible places on earth. This book is set in the rain forests of the Cameroons, which in the past half-century have been more or less destroyed. Gerald Durrell led three expeditions to the British Cameroons, all of which he brought to life with this and his other books, The Bafut Beagles and a Zoo in My Luggage. Descripción de la librería: We specialise in travel, adventure and exploration books published between about 1900 and 1960, loosely referred to as post-imperialist travel writing. Although most books are the first-hand experiences of their authors, we have included books of general interest about a particular area or incident and autobiographies and biographies by and of famous travellers or adventurers. You will also find some books we consider of particular merit outside our somewhat arbitrary date range. Mark Culme-Seymour Proprietor
