12mo, 170x100mm (6¾"x4"). French language. Two uniformly bound volumes, 'Texte' and 'Planches'. The 'Texte' volume without the 8 folding plates of music, the 'Planches' volume complete. TEXTE:- Seconde Édition 1813. pp(2)/(4)XIII(1)498/(2) including half-title, title-page, and single blank preliminary & final leaves. Occasional isolated spots. Sharp crease of length 75mm across upper outer corner of one leaf (pages 489/490), and a few much shorter & lighter creases and creased and/or furled corner tips elsewheres. PLANCHES:- Troisième Édition 1815. pp(2)/12/(2) including title-page and single blank preliminary & final leaves; plus diagrammatic plates numbered 1-126, many of which folding, with single supplementary Pl. 16, two supplementary Pls. 19, and three Pls. (25-26-27) on single folding leaf. Small dust-coloured blemish on Pl. 1. A few plates with tears along folds, no loss. A number of plates misfolded, some 12 with parts protruding from fore- and/or lower edges of text-block as a result; these parts - largely confined to plate margins - a little toned and/or nicked and/or furled, leaving text-block a little untidy-looking as well as a little widened. Speckled edges of both text-blocks a little toned. Contemporary full calf. Smooth spines with red and dark green title-labels, and decorations in gilt. Boards with blindstamped ruled borders and gilt-decorated edges. Original marbled endpapers. Edges and outer corners of 'Texte' volume slightly rubbed, with slight loss of hide at lower outer corner of front board; fore-edge of front board a little outwards-curled. Edges and outer corners of 'Planches' volume variably rubbed, with here & there a little loss of hide; front hinge lightly rubbed, with slight loss at foot. Both bindings, together with endpapers, a little worm-affected:- BOARDS - all with small patches of very light surface-grazing. TEXTE volume with deeper grazes over front hinge overlapping spine - affecting both title-labels and spine decorations to only moderate extent / single hole of diameter just over 1mm and two smaller holes along front hinge, and single tiny hole at rear hinge / front endpaper hinge with four small holes as well as slight loss along narrow trail & split of length 45mm from foot / rear endpaper hinge with slight loss along narrow trail & split of length 25mm from foot. PLANCHES volume with quite deep graze on spine affecting dark green label and gilt decoration in compartment above / single hole of diameter just over 1mm at head of spine / front endpaper hinge with single small hole close to head. Apart from endpapers, CONTENTS of both volumes worm-free. Bindings clean, holding firmly and still of decent appearance; contents generally clean and tight. GOOD copy / en bon état.
