Editorial: The Society, New York, 1894. The volume contains the first appearance of F. W. Taylor's second important paper. A comprehensive publication on the subject, which was accepted as the basis for all further studies and investigations, and was considered at that time to be the authority on all phases of the subject to which it relates. In this paper Taylor's presents his observations in using belting so as to obtain the greatest economy and the most satisfactory results, it is his judgment that belts should be made heavier and run slowly than theory and accepted rules would indicate. Black and white illustrations. Pages: xxiv, [ 2 ], 1359. 6 1/4" x 9". Binding: Dark reddish brown calf backed brown and red marbled boards, gilt titles at spine. Rubbed at extremities, some board exposure at corners, rear joint cracked but still holding. Three quarter inch break at fore-edge of rear board. Some light scuffing at front board, moderately scuffed at rear. Provenance: University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Library, Engineers and Scientists of Milwaukee, Inc. bookplate at front paste-down.
