Broadside, small 4to., 7 1/2" x 6 1/2", engraved, has been folded, printed one side. A Satire on the term of office of John Stuart, Earl of Bute who had resigned from office as Prime Minister on the 8th April 1763 following his having secured a Treaty of Peace with France which ended the French/Indian War in America, The terms obtained by Bute were less than advantageous to Britain which resulted in him becoming exceedingly unpopular. This satire shows Bute sittying on a cloud surrounded by supporters lauding his triumphs as a Scotsman - but with a underlying tone of resentment from England - a Scottish soldier about to slay Britannia and John Wilkes looking on with hands outstretched in horror. Boxes are marked "America", "Liberty of the Press", "Bank of England", "English Constitution", &c. See B.M. No. 4229 which erroneously dates this as (1768). This print appeared with the Dublin printed magazine "The Gentleman's and London Magazine" in 1764. N° de ref. de la librería 15575
