4 volumes in 3 [as issued], 8vo, with engraved frontispiece in each volume, wood-engravings in text, portrait plates, original pictorial cloth, stamped in blind and gilt, spines richly gilt decorated, neatly and professionally recased spine a trifle faded, occasional foxing as usual but an excellent sound set, EARLY ROBINS EDITION, as edited by Knapp and Baldwin, based on Criminal Chronology or the New Newgate Calendar of 1809-10, itself based on the original Newgate Calendar of 1774. This printing is much enhanced by its lively text wood-engravings and numerous portraits and plates, the latter not found in all issues. The work is very rarely found in this decorative cloth which, considering the title page dates, probably donates a later issue.
