Stated First Edition. Near Fine in Near Fine unclipped ($2.00) dust jacket with light edge and shelf wear, lightly sunned on the spine, and tiny closed tears. The jacket is really quite beautiful and amazing in this condition, especially considering its age! The illustrator, Richard Bennett, best known for his block prints and etching, was good friends with Thomas Handforth, the second person to win the CALDECOTT AWARD. Betty MacDonald saw humor in everything, especially herself, even during bouts of depression and her nine-month stint at the Firlands tuberculosis sanitarium, and she wasn't afraid to write about it. The Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle series became her most popular books for children, written while she was living on Vashon Island, where her farm has since been converted to a bed & breakfast. This is the first book of the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle series, beloved by several generations, extremely collectible in this state, and protected in a Brodart cover. N° de ref. de la librería 000805
