Descripción Robert Cadell, Edinburgh and John Murray and Whittaker, London 1839, 1839. Half Leather. Estado de conservación: Good. Second Edition. The complete 10 volume set from the 1839 second edition, beautifully bound originally in polished tan leather and lovely marbled paper on the boards with five raised bands on the spines, the bindings signed in type at bottom edge of front endpapers as being "For William Brown of Edinburgh." Contents of the volumes are still in very good condition but some of the covers have become detached from the bindings although the covers are all still present. The volumes with this problem are: Volume 1, back cover detached but present; Volume 5 front cover barely hanging on; and Volume 10 front cover detached but present. The other volumes show evidence of old glue repairs at the joints to secure the covers in place. And some of the leather with scuffing and other minor imperfections. Although not without fault, this is still overall a quite handsome set and each volume has a spine with title and author compartments in red and green morocco. Top edges gilt. Text of each volume tight in the bindings. Many outstanding engravings as frontispieces including several showing views of Abbotsford. Stately old bookplates on front endpapers do not detract from the attractiveness of these volumes. This set discounted per the condition issues noted so extra shippng will be asked for orders outside the U.S. Size: 12mo, Ten Volumes Complete. Nº de ref. de la librería 2367
