Sinopsis: During the course of an illustrious 50-year career that took him from the Bauhaus to New York, architect Marcel Breuer (1902-1981) generated a huge, influential and varied body of work. This is a comprehensive study of his oeuvre, looking at both Breuer's built and unbuilt work. He was a master of concrete technology and produced hundreds of buildings and designs that are distinguished by the diversity of their structure, material and form. He has been referred to as "the last modernist". This text aims to make it clear why his work was so revered.
About the Author: Isabelle Hyman, professor of fine arts at New York University, is a specialist in Italian Renaissance art and architecture, and in the architecture of Marcel Breuer.

Wikipedia: Marcel Lajos Breuer was a Hungarian-born modernist, architect and furniture designer. One of the masters of Modernism, Breuer extended the sculptural vocabulary he had developed in the carpentry shop at the Bauhaus into a personal architecture that made him one of the world's most popular architects at the peak of 20th-Century design. This book documents his long career and unique approach to design. Tracking number provided by email on all USA orders.
