"Cartography of Old Poland: Description of nearly 400 maps of the Polish Commonwealth" stands as the first and, for many years, the sole historical account of the cartography of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, as well as a comprehensive catalog of antiquarian maps depicting the region. The book is divided into 11 chapters: I. Historical maps (European Sarmatia); II. General maps; III-VIII Regional maps, encompassing Ukraine, Lithuania, and Prussia; IX Ecclesiastical maps; X. Geological maps; XI. Hydrological maps. Baron Edward Rastawiecki (1804-1879) personally collected maps and extensively utilized both public and private libraries.
