Descripción

Illustrations. First edition. 8vo., original black cloth. London, Gollancz. A presentation copy inscribed on the front free endpaper: 'To my dear friend Henry Blackmer with my deep heartiest sentiments. Feodor Chaliapin. 1932 Xmas. Paris.' Blackmer was a wealthy oilman who lived in exile in Europe for many years after escaping from the 'Teapot Dome' scandal in the USA. His second wife was a Scandinavian soprano, presumably through whom he made the acquaintance of Chaliapin. Lacks the dust jacket, edges bumped and a splatter of dots of white paint across the tail of the spine. N° de ref. de la librería 214401
