Acerca de

Provides information and brief stories about these animals

From Library Journal:

The title of this book is misleading; the author includes not only animals found in Canada and the United States, but also those found in Central and South America. One hundred and fifteen species are detailed, accompanied by approximately 100 color plates painted by Canadian artist Dwane Harty. Wrigley has grouped species by their habitat. Information provided includes a "day-in-the life" narrative, followed by a technical outline of the species' scientific classification, physical description, status, reproduction, and food. The book ends with a reading list. Unfortunately, this book lacks an index and a glossary, both of which would be necessary to use it as a reference tool. Still, since the material is factual and well presented, this work would be a nice addition for small libraries that can't afford Bernhard Grzimek's Grzimek's Encyclopedia of Mammals ( LJ 10/1/89) or Walker's Mammals of the World , edited by Ronald M. Novak and John L. Paradiso (Johns Hopkins, 1983. 4th ed.). -- Edell Marie Peters, Brookfield, P.L., Wis.
