Red cloth. 12mo. 177pp. No dust jacket. Illustrated. First edition. An early work on the motion picture industry with topics including: putting on a photoplay; hiring extras; troublesome child players; making railroad photoplays; producing a biblical motion picture; handling wild animals on the set; making cartoons for the movies; underwater filming; filming a wartime epic; etc. Several unusual topics include "Eyesight damage caused through the motion picture arcs", "Do the players drink intoxicants in motion pictures?" and "The dangers of employing redskins as movie actors". Mention is made of Universal City in the book's preface. The work is illustrated with 10 photographs showing an early movie studio; the filming of an interior scene; the actor King Baggot putting on makeup; an auto bus transporting actors to the set; and other scenes. A very good, bright copy with light wear to the spine tips and a tiny white spot to the lower rear cover. The text is fine with some light soiling and wear. Scarce. N° de ref. de la librería 7650
