HB 1st thus. 'First Quarto first published 2nd Jan 1815. In this volume is included the poem of 'The Death of Keeldar', not printed in any preceding edition'. From notice at start by unknown. Colour marbled effect paper on board front and back. Dark green leather corners, spine seams with impressed pattern down leather and marble edge. Brown leather spine, gilt titles, gilt banding. Page edges collectively also colour marbled effect. 13.5 x 9cm. 272 pages. Brick colour e/ps. b/w engraving Fingals Cave title page, artist Turner, engraver W. Forrest. Condition: Marble effect on boards front and back scraped, some colour loss, slight show of board. Wear on spine, edges + corners, boards showing. o/p on paste down top left corner small tab with 161 in ink. As this book came from a personal collection and other books have numbers on, we assume that in their personal library each book was given a number so that it was returned to the right place. Following blank free o/ps, 2nd had dedication period writing in ink. Stain on bottom third of title page + page age discoloured. Title + illust still clear. The odd minor fox spot and yellowing - minimal. Overall clean, tight binding, very little internal wear, good colour, for its age in remarkable condition. Good + condition.
