Hard Cover. Very Good/Not Issued in Dustjacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 48 pages. NOT ex-library. A lovely book, in sturdy cloth-covered boards decorated with embossed floral pictorials in silver foil and gilt. Beveled edges to the boards, all exterior page edges gilt. Illustrated with six full-page plates. The First Separate Book Edition of this scarce poem by the great British writer was actually published in Boston by Fields,Osgood in 1869. The first with these illustrations was apparently published in Philadelphia by Caxton in 1883. There was no separate UK edition of this poem published; it was originally published in Blackwood's Magazine in May, 1869. The book is very clean and stain-free, it stands perfectly straight, and remains firm in its binding, no pages loose or missing (although the blank and flimsy front free endpaper is detached and present). Hinges are sound and undamaged. Corners unbumped. Gift inscription on the 2nd blank front free endpaper, but there is no other writing, underlining, or highlighting in the book. The cloth binding shows brief wear at the spine ends and the corner tips, but virtually no wear otherwise, though the cloth and the pictorial are slightly darkened from age. In all, a very nice copy of a gorgeous, relatively scarce old book. N° de ref. de la librería
