Sinopsis:

In this captivating memoir Professor John Richmond recounts the events of his personal and professional life elegantly and honestly. He vividly describes his schooldays and the high regard he has for the teachers who touched his life in such a positive way. He moves on to discuss how his great enthusiasm for medicine was inducted in his undergraduate days.

The reader will be entertained by Professor Richmond’s time spent in military service in the RAMC in Africa entering through Egypt and travelling to different assignments before departing from Cape Town. There followed a most maturing period in a remote single-handed general practice in Scotland. He tells of his long and difficult climb up the medical ladder which included a training year in New York and a long research visit to Uganda to realise professional goals. In later years there were travels for teaching and examinations all over the world.

But the book is not all about Professor Richmond’s long and distinguished career. A Medical Man Finds The Pieces also includes many private recollections, such as the rewarding and fulfilling partnership that he has enjoyed with his wife, Jenny. They have two sons and one daughter, all doctors, and get great pleasure from their grandchildren. He completes his story in their golden wedding year.
