Biografía del autor: Ramsey Najor was born in 1942 in the village of Telkeppe, Iraq, formerly Mesopatamia. His ancestors were called Chaldeans or Babylonians, an ancient biblical people, known for contributions to astronomy-astrology, written laws, engineering and inventing the time measures, seconds, weeks and months.
In 1946 his father Elia Najor immigrated to America, earning his passage as a steward on the U.S.S. Victory. Ramsey, his mother Hasina, and brother Nazar flew to the U.S., settling in Detroit in 1948.
Detroit was a cultural melting pot, many of the people had immigrated there to escape from political, religious and economic hardships and oppression in their home countries. America offered freedom and a fresh start for a new life.
Elia Najor owned and operated food stores, giving Ramsey the opportunity to work with, observe and learn from many different races, cultures and communities.
Dealing with diverse cultures, he discovered that each had unique beliefs, ideas and social practices. Often they avoided and resisted other cultures, races and practices, believing that their ideas and customs were the right ones. In 1968 the Najor family moved to California and since then have managed food stores in a variety of communities.
Ramsey continually engages in the question “What empowers individuals and communities to create extraordinary lives and futures?” He is committed to ongoing inquiry, growth, well-being and development. Ramsey continually experiments with the practices and philosophies of great thinkers and leaders.
The Najor family supports projects in local schools and communities. Ramsey currently resides in Southern California.
