This extremely detailed account of Queen Victoria --- her reign, events during it, the Royal Family, politics, international and domestic affairs, accounts of contemporary life --- was updated regularly throughout her life and these two volumes (publication dates 1891 and 1893) take the story to 1892. The two voumes are bound together, the first covering 752 pages, the second 824 pages including index for both. The comprehansive text is accompanied by numerous b/w full page plate engravings, with others appearing throughout full page, many more intext or as chapter heads. The illustrations are not confined to royal matters but include locations, personalities, buildings, battles, demonstrations and festivals. While the text material contains much of historical importance, it is probably the fine engravings that today make this a wonderful book. First 11 chapters by Edmund Ollier. Dark green hard covers with gilt spine titles VG with lightly bumped/worn corners, wear to back spine hinge, back board loose with front board slightly loose, ink name, address date FFEP which is lightly browned, ditto RFEP, text block excellent with occasional sprinkle foxing. A very heavy book at six and a half pounds unpacked and 6.5cm deep cover to cover. N° de ref. del artículo 002712
