Descripción George Allen and Unwin Ltd, London, 1956. Hardcover. Estado de conservación: VG (Only slightly aged.). Burgundy cloth, off-white & BW illus. dust jacket in mylar cover, 262 pp., 11 BW illus. "The autobiography of an extraordinary woman, who would have made her mark in any sphere. the grand-daughter of William Henry Fox Talbot, who has been called the 'Father of Photography,' she has much to tell of a full and varied life. Lacock Abbey, the hereditary seat of the family since 1540, is an exceptional place. A Tudor house, with Georgian and other additions, has been built into a great thirteenth century nunnery. In 1916 Matilda Talbot unexpectedly inherited from her uncle the Abbey, together with Lacock village, one of the most beautiful villages in England. She writes of her life there, and recalls many stories of the family. . Lacock, however, only occupies a portion of the book; there is much else of interest. There are delightful pictures of a Scottish childhood; of formative years in beloved London; of teaching cookery; of commanding W. R. N. S. in the First War; and a great deal of travel, often to unusual places in unusual ways." (dj) Uncommon. Nº de ref. de la librería 150759
