Acerca de

Account of the strange disappearance of Jim Thompson, the renowned American from Thailand, who vanished intothe jungle of Malysia's Cameron Higlands on Easter Sunday afternoon in 1967. On Easter Sunday Afternoon in 1967, an American businessman from Thailand named James H. W. Thompson disappeared, perhaps while on a stroll, perhaps not, in the jungled mountains of central Malaysia. The circumstances surrounding the disappearance were unusual, to say the least, and Thompson was already the subject of a considerable legend; these two factors combined to assure the case of an extraordinary amount of public attention. A number of people close to the affair thought the interest would die down in time, but for a variety of reasons this has not happened. Today, more than twenty years later, the mystery still excites comment in most of the capitals of Southeast Asia, where Thompson was a familiar figure, and in many American and European circles as well. It has, in fact, rapidly assumed the proportions of a second Thompson legend, which because of its tempting Sunday-supplement ingredients threatens to obscure the very real and remarkable achievements that were the basis of the first. Thompson was sixty-one years old in 1967. Contents in Four Parts: A Walk in the Highlands, The First Legend, The Making of a Legend, and Postscript on the Evidence
