Sinopsis: Teri Jendusa-Nicolai married David Larsen with high hopes of a normal, happy marriage. What she couldn't have known was that her husband had concealed his true personality for more than a decade. Behind Larsen's mask of humor and sociability was a domineering spouse, relentless in his pursuit of absolute control over his wife.  After several attempts to escape her marriage, Teri finally left David for good, soon after the birth of their second daughter. Slowly, she began to piece together a life for herself and her two young daughters. But David Larsen's reign of terror wasn't over. "Left for Dead" is the compelling account of one woman's indomitable will to survive and to hope when all hope was lost.   Teri's remarkable story was covered by CNN at the time of the crime. Subsequently, she was interviewed by Barbara Walters on 20/20 and appeared on the Oprah Show. In August 2012, Teri was featured in a follow-up segment by the Oprah Network.

From the Author:           Left For Dead is the culmination of extensive research and many hours of detailed interviews with Teri Jendusa-Nicolai. The result is a you-are-there narrative of life inside a violent home. I knew Teri as an acquaintence before her abduction and was one of many who experienced the horror of a missing friend. Having written a previous book, I asked Teri a year after the ordeal if I could write her story; she graciously agreed.     Left For Dead is not only about violence, but about a husband's (David Larsen's) sense of total control, dominance and entitlement. Larsen ran his home like a military operation in a war zone...and he was the commanding officer. The details, at times, are pathetically humorous.     Conversely, in stark contrast to Larsen's malignant narcissism, is the inspiring story of Teri: first attempting to save her marriage, then realizing there was nothing left to save, and finally, attempting to flee the tyranny of her husband, even after her divorce.          I hope you find Left For Dead absorbing, shocking, inspiring and educational.    ~ David Alfvin
