4to 11" - 13" tall; First edition, first impression. 290, cxxix pp. 4to. Snug and sound in a tasteful, recently rebacked binding retaining period marbled paper covered boards. This copy lacks the half-title page but retains the large engraved frontis of Scott and his dog, Camp executed by Heath after Saxon. Mild soiling and foxing to front and rear endpages; a shallow damp line across the top corner of the frontis and the last several leaves. A very shallow tea toned damp line visible along the very front edge of some pages of the text. Engraved armorial bookplate of Diana Russell mounted to front pastedown; manuscript ownership of Fanny S. Bawdon [? ] to the blank upper corner of the title page. Paper covered boards exhibit some light rubbing and chipping to the paper at edges. Lower edge of boards shelf rubbed and a bit furred. Professionally rebacked and snugly bound.
