Original colour illustrated wraps titled in English and Arabic 17x23cm. (36), (2)pp, illustrated in colour and b/w throughout. Very good. This stated 2nd edition (1973) was reduced from Safwat Kamel's "Kuwaiti Folklore - An Introductory Study", and looks to be extremely rare. There are references online to a 3rd edition published by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information in 1986. There are no introductory texts, and it includes only photographs captioned either in English or Arabic, or both. The photos feature diverse arts and crafts including brass perfume bottles and other items, decorative glass, wooden shoes, carved doors, architecture, much dance, musical instruments, folk games, clothing and jewellery. Egyptian researcher Safwat Kamal went on to become Professor of Folklore at the High Institute of Folklore in Cairo, and co-founded the Egyptian National Archives of Folklore.
