Acerca de

Quilt making is very popular, but knitted quilt patterns are hard to come by. This facsimile edition of Tessa Lorant's Knitted Quilts & Flounces, originally published in 1982, is a collection of outstanding traditional knitting patterns. It revives 24 genuine 'white knitting' designs, to charm and fascinate both the beginner and the more advanced knitter, and enable them to use their own special skills to create fantastic knitted quilts which could easily become heirlooms. Ways of assembling and dressing the pieces are discussed, and the carefully re-knitted patterns are fully illustrated in black and white in the book. There are 13 quilt and 11 flounce designs, and the average time taken to knit each pattern piece or repeat is given. The patterns are presented in readable, easy-to-follow form. Methods of assembly are discussed, and easy ways of 'turning the corner' when bordering the completed quilt with a flounce are also given.

About the Author:

Tessa Lorant Warburg lives in England – with her elder son and his family: his Thai wife and three lively children. Originally a mathematician, Tessa first learned to knit at University, where her tutor – a keen knitter - pointed out the connection between the study of knots – topology – and knitting. Encouraged by her husband Tessa began writing on knitting. Her first manuscript was immediately taken up by Batsford, another by Van Nostrand Reinhold. She then began work on The Heritage of Knitting titles, all of which sold particularly well. Tessa is written up in Richard Rutt's A History of Hand Knitting. Tessa began to broaden her writing. She won the OddFellows Social Concern Award for 1988 with A Voice at Twilight (Peter Owen, 1988), a book about her husband's last year as a cancer patient, and now writes fiction as well as non-fiction.
