The King of the Dark Chamber by Rabindranath Tagore, translated into English by the author. Hardback, 1918, second reprint (first published 1914, reprinted 1915), published by Macmillan and Co., Limited, London, 200 pages + 4-page publisher catalogue at rear. Octavo/8vo, measures around 7 3/4" by 5 3/8" by 7/8". No dust jacket. Blue cloth binding, gilt lettering to front board and faded gilt lettering to spine. A little scuffing to binding but quite clean and colouring vivid. Signs of wear, a little rubbing at edges and on hinges. A little strain to binding, the odd crack, some slackness but holding quite well. Page edges browned, scuffed and a bit marked. Lower and fore-edges deckled, fore-edges opened with some rough edges. Some marking to endpapers, gift inscription on front free endpaper.
