TRANSLATOR'S BIO: Translator Benedicttsson was a noted Icelandic-Canadian feminist writer and activist and colleague of western Canadian feminist, Nellie McClung. For a time, she and her husband Benedict ran a printing company in Selkirk, Manitoba - and published the feminist journal Freyja, the first woman suffrage paper in Canada, for which she wrote many contributions dealing with the condition of women. Referenced in Hjartar, p. 13. Not on Amicus; only three locations listed in Iceland (see Gegnir). Unusually rare item translated by prominent Icelandic Canadian writer/editor/feminist activist.
