First edition / First printing. Signed on the title page by John Fogerty. Blue paper-covered boards. 406 pages. About fine in a fine dust jacket. Leader of Creedence Clearwater Revival, 1993 Inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Fogerty's version of "Swamp Rock" has been a huge influence on the current Americana Music Movement. After a series of Top 40 hits and successful albums, Fogerty was embroiled in a long dispute with Sal Zaentz of Fantasy Records. Zaentz acquired the rights to the CCR songwriting, and for many years Fogerty refused to perform the songs. Eventually friends convinced him to perform CCR songs again. After Zaentz sold Fantasy, Fogerty returned to the label. Inducted into the Hall of Fame by Bruce Springsteen, who said, "As a songwriter, only a few did as much in three minutes [as John Fogerty]. He was an Old Testament, shaggy-haired prophet, a fatalist. Funny too. He was severe, he was precise, he said what he had to say and he got out of there.". N° de ref. de la librería
Sinopsis: NATIONAL BESTSELLER
The long-awaited memoir from John Fogerty, the legendary singer-songwriter and creative force behind Creedence Clearwater Revival.
Creedence Clearwater Revival is one of the most important and beloved bands in the history of rock, and John Fogerty wrote, sang, and produced their instantly recognizable classics: "Proud Mary," "Bad Moon Rising," "Born on the Bayou," and more. Now he reveals how he brought CCR to number one in the world, eclipsing even the Beatles in 1969. By the next year, though, Creedence was falling apart; their amazing, enduring success exploded and faded in just a few short years.
FORTUNATE SON takes readers from Fogerty's Northern California roots, through Creedence's success and the retreat from music and public life, to his hard-won revival as a solo artist who finally found love.
About the Author: John Fogerty was songwriter, lead singer, and lead guitarist for Creedence Clearwater Revival and is one of rock's most influential musicians and writers.
