Opposing tipped-in plates protected by glassine sheets. Text and illustration pages clean and sound. Grey cloth covered boards with stamped foil illustration on front panel and titles on back strip. Cloth is sl. worn and is fraying on edges (but no wear through). Faint liquid spotting to head of page ends. Spine and edges have sunning. Jacket is a bit rubbed, and yellowed, lightly soiled, three inch tear of the cover front that starts 2 1/2" from the right corner. There is signs of old underlining that has been removed, in the first 40 pages of text. This volume is the first full-length monograph on Jasper Johns, whose work has earned a historicplace for itself by sparking much af America and, indeed, world art since the mid-1950s.
