Detalles bibliográficos

Título: January Twenty Sixth / New Theatre Presents ...

Editorial: New Theatre League mid 1930s, New York

Año de publicación: 1930

Encuadernación: Theatre Program

Very good, single leaf folded to make four pages, some tearing at the folds. The rear wrap notes Third Repeat Performance, Benefit: League for Southern Labor. The plays were Paul Green's "Unto Such Glory," directed by Leslie Urbach; Green's "Hymn to the Rising Sun," directed by Joe Losey; "Angelo Herndon," based on a Joseph North article; and the mass chant was "Benjamin Quixote," from the Artef 2 Collective Studio. The Let Freedom Ring Actors' Troupe featured Will Geer, Leslie Urbach, Jacob Mostel and many others. A fragile piece of agit-prop ephemera. The Artef was home to a group of worker-actor students of the Yiddish theatre beginning c. 1925. By the mid-1930s, they had gone professional, featuring two or three new plays per season. They became popular during the Popular Front years. The last performance at the Artef was July 7, 1941. It was demolished a year later.; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 4 pp. N° de ref. de la librería 24719
