1st Printing. 25 pages. Published in 1991. Rare Jan Saudek collectible item. A fine copy of the Fashion Catalog created by Jan Saudek for Yukio Kobayaski/House of Matsuda's Fall/Winter 1991 Collection. The first and only edition. The Catalog is the second of two consecutive collaborations with Jan Saudek, undertaken when the artist/photographer was still an esoteric, even obscure, figure, and long before he became a global mainstream icon. The first catalog was for the Spring/Summer 1990 Collection. Published in a tiny print run for the exclusive use of the fashion designer and its clientele. There is no ISBN. The Catalog is now rare. A brilliant production by Jan Saudek and Yukio Kobayashi: Oversize-volume format. The folder is poster-sized at 15 X 21 inches. Photographs by Jan Saudek, which are inspired by his own body of work, shot entirely in Prague, The Czech Republic, one of the most beautiful places in the world, the Paris of Eastern Europe. Fashion by Yukio Kobayashi for the House of Matsuda. Printed and bound in Tokyo, Japan to the highest standards. The reproduction quality of the images must be seen to be believed: In their fidelity to Saudek's exquisite palette, it is not an exaggeration to say that they surpass those of any book by the artist/photographer himself. In pictorial softcovers with titles on the cover, as issued. Without DJ, as issued. Presents Jan Saudek's work for Yukio Kobayashi/House of Matsuda Fall/Winter 1991 Collection. Saudek-meets-High Fashion, take two. The photographic sequence has a narrative flow, centered around a love letter ("Mon ami") that ends in a deadly duel. Matsuda is "haute couture" at its most rarefied, and this fact is reinforced and enlarged here by the gritty, erotic, and indelible photographic art of Jan Saudek. Noted for his meticulous composition and painstaking hand-coloring of his prints, the artist/photographer has created a personal universe, rife with expressions of humor, desire, and despair. One immediately realizes that nothing could possibly overwhelm Saudek's world. So it is to Yukio Kobayashi's credit that, aside from providing the (very beautiful) clothes and accessories he created for the House of Matsuda, he leaves Jan Saudek alone. For Saudek, desire, sexuality, and eroticism = beauty = life itself. To the extent that Kobayashi/Matsuda recognizes and embraces this fact, fashion = life, too. To fans and admirers who have seen it all: This is the ultimate collectible, not just memorabilia, item for Jan Saudek collectors. This title is a Jan Saudek collectible classic. As far as we know, this is the only copy of the Jan Saudek Matsuda par Yukio Kobayashi Automne/Hiver (Fall/Winter) 1991 Fashion Catalog available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright, a pristine beauty. Please note: This item is extremely rare and will be packed securely for both Domestic and where applicable, International dispatch. A rare copy thus. 24 color plates. One of the greatest artist/photographers of our time. A fine collectible copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER JAN SAUDEK/MATSUDA/YUKIO KOBAYASHI TITLE IN OUR CATALOG). N° de ref. de la librería 18977
