8/9 volumes only. LACKS volume 4. Volumes 1,2,3 5, 6,7, 8 & 9 are FIRST EDITIONS 1710/1711. However Volume 8 has been 'doctored' to look like an earlier Edition but on reserach /internal evidence it is c. 1769. All bound in a Uniform full speckled calf with plain and decorative panels to the front and rear boards - all rubbed, scraped and worn, with some leather loss here and there. Some spines splitting and a couple of front boards detaching/detached. All titling gone or illegible, but gilt numbering on vols 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 still visible on the spines. All volumes have a printed heraldic bookplate with the name ' Maddock' but under each in old ink is written nee Emily M. Pritchard. (Emily M. Pritchard was a writer of local Cardiganshire/Welsh history in the 1900s). Volume 1 = 1710. 'To Which is Prefix'd Mr Leland's New Year's Gift: and At the End is Subjoyn'd a Discourse Concerning Some Antiquities Lately Found in York-Shire'. 2 blanks before Title. (xxiv) + (2) + 119 pp (including Index). Some minor old worm to the top inner blank corner for the first half of the book but petering out to one tiny dot after c.20 pp. One illustration in the text. Volume 2 = 1711. To which is prefix'd Mr Leland's Naeniae upon the death of Sir Thomas Wyatt: And at the end are annex'd (1.) An Account of several Antiquities in and about the University of Oxford. (2.) A Latin Oration. (3.) Dr, Plot's Account of an intended Journey through England and Wales. 2 blanks before Title. (xvi) + 120 pp . 2 illus in text. (incl. Index. Subscriber's List + 'Advertisement' which states - "There are only 120 copies of this book printed. 3rd Volume is actually in the Prefs"). A single old worm track to the inner edge of the lower half of the back of the book but petering out to one tiny dot after c.20 pp (ie: from the back endpaper in to page 100-ish). Volume 3. = 1711. To which is added Antononus's Itinerarey through Britain, with various Readings and Dr. Robert Talbot's Annotations upon it. 2 blanks before Title. (viii) + 155 pp (incl. 3 Indices) + 5pp (Subscriber's List + 'Advertisement' which states - "There are only 120 copies of this book printed.4th volume is actually in the Prefs"). NO VOLUME 4. Volume 5 = 1711. To which is prefix'd 'Mr . W. Vallan's Account of Several Parts of Hartford-Shire: and at the end is Subjoyn'd A Letter concerning some Antiquities between Windsor and Oxford'. 2 blanks before Title. (xxviii) + 152 pp. A few Illustrations in the text. (incl. Index. Subscriber's List + 'Advertisement' which states - "There are only 120 copies of this book printed.6th volume is actually in the Prefs"). Volume 6 = 1711. To which is annex'd 'A Letter to the Publisher, containing an Account of some Observations relating to the Antiquities and Natural History of England; And an Essay towards the Recovery of the courses of the four Great Roman Ways'. 2 blanks before Title. (xvi) + 136 pp. One Illustration in the text. (incl. Index. Subscriber's List + 'Advertisement' which states - "There are only 120 copies of this book printed.7th volume is actually in the Prefs"). Volume 7 (In Two Parts) the First part - from the Bodlian as before, but the 2nd Part published from Mr. Stowe's Transcript in the Library of Robert Davies of Llannerch in Denbighshire Esq: = 1711. 'To which is subjoin'd an Appendix; And at the Beginning is prefix'd a Letter from the Rev'd Dr. White Kennett.' . 2 blanks before Title. (xxiv) + 140 pp. One full page Map in the text. (incl. Index. Subscriber's List + 'Advertisement' which states - "There are only 120 copies of this book printed.8th volume is actually in the Prefs"). Volume 8 - has had the 'L' and the 'X' removed from the foot of the title page making it look like 1711 but the Publisher to THIS volume ONLY is James Fletcher and the later Title Page 'A Letter to Sir Christopher Wren.' , shows the date M DCC LXIX (1769) - giving the game away!
