Descripción

These "studies in Pacific history" approach the subject in an innovative way, presenting a collection of colourful events in the South Seas. These include the Bounty mutiny and Pitcairn settlement, Spanish exploration, beachcombing and castaways, Tahiti's pork trade, the coconut oil trade, the return of Tahitians from Pitcairn, Phoenix Island colonisation and Rarotongan sandlewood. Four of the chapters have appendices (four relating to the pork trade chapter.) An interesting approach to Pacific history, covering a number of little known episodes. 397 pages including bibliography, 20 b/w plates of art, photos and maps, 19 intext figures, tables, map e/papers. Blue hard covers with gilt spine titles on black panel VG with hint wear lower edges, ink name top FFEP also two numeric stamps, one crossed out, but no indication of library use, ink name half title, text block otherwise excellent. Pale yellow pictorial DJ has lightly sunned spine area, small section missing spine top, few chips, creases short tears top edges, few chips lower edges, but G+. N° de ref. de la librería 002918
