Descripción:

Color map, sheet size 33 x47 inches folding to 8 x 8 inches. Previous owner's stamp and "obsolete" stamp at lower right corner , otherwise fine condition. This is a detailed chart for aircraft navigation published by the U.S. Air Force in the Cold War years of the early 1950s. This map covers the quadrant from longitude 25 to 100 degrees east, and from latitude 25 to 45 north. This was a significant era of change for many countries in the region as post-World War II agreements were implemented. Although the map is marked "Air Information Current as of Apr 1950" the mapping fundamentals obviously date to the last revision date of April 1947: the country of Palestine is named, but there is no Israel; what is now Pakistan is still part of India. Countries included, in whole or part, are Saudi Arabia, Trans-Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, India, Tibet, Russia and Mongolia. Warning notes include "Flying is prohibited over Trans-Jordan between sunset and sunrise" and "Flying if prohibited over Saudi Arabian cities." Scale 1:5,000,000. The map has a legend which shows the chart numbers of different areas of the globe and describes the symbols used on the maps. These symbols include land and sea plane facilities, Prohibited Areas, Danger and Caution Areas, radio facilities, geographical and 'cultural' features (including railroads, cities etc). A fascinating aviation map, recording a wide range of information important to the pilot, including elevation of the land formations and rivers. N° de ref. de la librería
