This early, pioneering country music singer and musician composed tunes such as "The Wreck of the Number Nine" and the lyrics for "Barnacle Bill the Sailor" and did much to make country music known to mainstream America and to Britain; he can be heard with legend Vernon Dalhart on the 1924 recording of "Wreck of the Old '97," country music's first million-dollar seller. A large, bold and handsome "Kindest Regards to our / Radio Friend / -- ARNOLD GATES -- / Carson Robison / and / His Buckaroos / Pearl -- Bill -- John" penned in black ink on an 8" X 5" sheet. Very good. (Arnold F. Gates, 1914-93, was a noted Lincoln and Civil War scholar). Undated, but Robison's band (Carson Robison's Pioneers) was formed in 1932 and changed its name later that decade to The Buckaroos, which dates this to circa 1935. A lovely example of this surprisingly scarce autograph. N° de ref. de la librería 40841
