About the Author:

Glenda Dekkema is a freelance writer for magazines and newspapers, and the chaplaincy and boardroom columnist for the national magazine Senior Care Canada. She loves to research and write on a variety of topics. She believes writing is not about "what you know," but what the expert you’re interviewing knows. She will explore the issue, get to the root of it and then turn the information into something interesting, informative and easy-to-read. If the topic needs a little humor to bring it&345;-or the reader"" to life, she will add it.

Melony Teague was born in South Africa and immigrated to Canada in 1999. She lives in Oak Ridges with her husband and their two children. She is a freelance writer who believes everyone has a story to tell and each story is unique and sometimes wilder than fiction. She loves to uncover the good news in society and writes human interest and community pieces. Melony is an editorial contributor for Sport In Aurora Magazine, a member of the Richmond Hill Liberal’s COMM links group, and has contributed columns and community articles for the local media over the years. Melony’s guest columns address issues pertaining to the life and health of her community. She loves to inspire and motivate others through her written words. She is also ghostwriter who has worked with diverse subject matter. In addition to writing the biographies for thePortraits of Giving 2014 & 2015 she also handles Communications and PR for two non-profit missions organizations in Canada. She is an active member of The Word Guild and Inscribe.

Carol Ford is writing a memoir about her adoption and an emotional birth family reunion at age 50. She’s an active member of the Word Guild. Carol facilitates a Christian writers’ group in her home. She was a Senior Training Advisor with Bombardier Aerospace for ten years. She is certified in MBTI and Life Skills Coaching. Carol owns a consulting business and specializes in personality assessments, human resources topics and career management. She delivers workshops and speaks at church, college, industry and community events. Carol and her husband live in Newmarket, Ontario.

Claudia Loopstra is a wife, mother of two, a grandmother of six and a writer. She has recently completed her memoir "Redemptive Love: Living with an Alchoholic Father". Claudia has had several short stories and articles published. She has given seminars on topics such as Strengthening Your Devotional Life, Emotional and Physical Abuse and Forgiveness. Claudia has also done topical speeches on prayer and grief. She was a bereavement facilitator for approximately ten years. During the 90s, Claudia served on the National Executive of Women Alive. She is currently a member of The Word Guild.

Marguerite Cummings has a distinctively international background. Born in Belgium into a French-speaking family with roots in Austria, Belgium, Poland, and Romania, she moved to England in her late teens. There she completed an Oxford degree, attended Bible college, trained as a technical writer and editor, and worked in computing, until her move to Canada in 1998. Marguerite now feels completely at home in Toronto, the multi-cultural capital of Ontario. Marguerite has been a member of The Word Guild since 2006. She contributed the article “O Canada” to the bestselling Canadian anthology A Second Cup of Hot Apple Cider (2011), and received an Award of Merit in 2012 for this story. She continued her involvement with the Hot Apple Cider books by designing two Reader’s Guides and co-editing two Discussion Guides for the series. She is looking forward to further involvement with writers from The Word Guild.
