This volume has three sections: first consisting of the reminiscences and tributes paid by late Khan Saheb's friends, admires and followers; the second section consisting of invaluable articles on various aspects of Indian music by internationally famed scholars; and the third section on Khan Sahab by the author and some of Khan Sahab'scompositions.
This volume is a testimony of Ustad Mushtaq Ali KhanSahab's sature as Sadhak and a respected musician.
About the Author:
Pandit Devabrata Chaudhuri, popularly known as Debu, is a recipient of the prestigious government award of Padmabhushan and National Sangeet Natak Akademy Award for his special contribution in the field of music.
He received his early training from teh late Pt. Panchu Gopal Dutta and later for 38 years from teh senior-most traditional exponent of SitarMaestro Ustad Mushtaq Ali Khan of Senia Gharana.
Debu made his public debut at the age of 13 and his first broadcast for All India Radio was broadcast inteh year 1948. He retired as Dean, Faculty of Music and Fine Arts, University of Delhi, in 1999, after 40 years of service. His contribution in the field of teaching and performance includes 40 Ph.D. scholars who got the degree under his guidance, trained about 1,000 students and more than 30 students are performing all over India in the All India Radio. Travelled abroad more than 70 times and lecturedat 128 universities in USA and otehr countries including Australia, China, Japan and Europe.
Debu is the Hony. Secretary of UMAK Centre for Culture established in the name of his Guru Ustad Mushtaq Ali Khan. He is the creator of eight new ragas: Bisweswari, Palas-Sarang, Anuranjani, Ashiqui Lalit, Swanandeswari, Kalyani Bilawal, Shiva Manjari and Prabhati Manjari. He is the author of six books and released several CD's all over the world.
