Map, original outline handcolor, 13.25 x 19.75", centrefold. Very good condition: extremely faint damp staining in margins ending well outside image area, trimmed lower margin just cutting into publisher's information but still leaving about 0.5" of margin to edge of image, on verso: small drawing in ink and a few small, light traces of pigment, not at all visible from front. India below about 20 degrees of latitude. The map includes a list titled "Explanation of Native Words which occur in Maps of India", with terms such as Gurh (a Fort) and waddy (a cluster of huts). The inset map ("Pegu, the Tenasserim Provinces, Straits Settlements, &c." approx. 11.75 x 7.75") depicts Pegu (lower Burma), the Malay Peninsula and Singapore, and a portionof the island of Sumatra, as well as the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
