Awarded to Rev. John Francis Kitson of Anthony, South East Cornwall, to commemorate sixty years service as their vicar, committee members include Reginald Pole-Carew. Dated February 5th 1905. Image size 19.25" x 15.25" . Hand painted paper laid-down to canvas and stretched over a wooden frame. I can post with, or without, the frame showed in the picture. The illuminated address is neatly painted in blues, reds, and greens, highlighted in gold. At the top is a small albumen photo of the Reverend Kitson, and at the base is a small watercolour of the church at Antony, Cornwall. With the initials: "W.H" , to lower right corner. Thought to be William Hawken (one of the Committee members. Other names include: John Matthews; Alfred Hawken (Churchwardens). Committee: Reginald Pole-Carew; Walter D. More pictures available on request. ** "John Francis Kitson (9 March 1818 29 July 1907) was an English cleric and cricketer, an alumnus of Exeter College, Oxford. Born in Crediton, Devon, he was the son of the Rev. John Lane Kitson. He matriculated at Exeter College in 1837, graduating B.A. in 1841. He played one first-class cricket match for Oxford University Cricket Club on 24 May 1838. An opening-batsman of unknown handedness, he scored a pair two scores of zero against the Marylebone Cricket Club who were victorious by 47 runs. Kitson became vicar of Antony, Cornwall. He died in Torpoint, Cornwall. In 1866 he married Charlotte Henrietta Edmonstone, daughter of William Edmonstone. They had eight sons and four daughters." - See Wikipedia*** Lieut.-General Sir Reginald Pole-Carew (1849 - 1924) lived at Antony House, Antony, Cornwall . The eldest son of the late W. H. Pole-carew, of Antony. He entered the Coldstream Guards and saw service in the Afghan War, in south Africa, in Burmah, and again in South Africa. Sir Reginald was military secretary to Lord Roberts in India. In 1900 he retired from the Army and was created K.C.B.
