This is an antique copy of "HOYLE'S GAMES ~ Containing the Rules for Playing Fashionable Games." 1859; Henry F. Anners; Philadelphia. Games include Whist, Cribbage, Lottery, Domino, Backgammon, Checkers ("Draughts"), Chess, Golf, Cricket, Billiards, Tennis, Euchre, Archery, Bowling ("Bowls" or "Ten Pins"), Horse Racing, Cock Fighting ("Cocking").and much more. Some of the games contain an illustration. Early American edition "carefully revised from the last London edition." The book measures 6 5/8" tall x 4 5/8" wide. Condition: Clean covers; the cloth on the spine has partially sun-faded. Cloth tears at the top and bottom edges of the spine. Small cloth tears at the cover corner tips. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Mild foxing to the pages throughout the book. Name/date (1861) written in ink on the front end paper. There is an embossed notary stamp (Wm.
