Draft Agency script an unproduced film called "Hoops," based on an original story called "Champions" by John H. Ballard, written for screen by Ballard and Dennis Watlington, and which later served as the basis for Walter Dean Myers' 1981 novel. Laid in is an interoffice memo from Brenda Beckett at the Paul Kohner-Michael Levy Agency, dated Jan. 11, 1980, suggesting to Walter (Kohner) that John Ballard is a "really nice young man, but lacks the energy and drive to really do well," and that the agency pass on the screenwriter. Also included is a project outline detailing the story, cast, the novel, and the creative staff, as well as a list of supports, potential starring actors and actresses, and a few pages from Myers' then forthcoming novel; a photocopied interoffice correspondence, dated 1/8/80, noting a screening of Ballard's film, "The Orphan" (1979), under the film's working title, "Friday the 13th," and a page of photocopied review articles about the film; five leaves detailing Ballard's background, education, experience, and past projects, and the synopsis of forty-minute pilot test film consisting of "six scenes from the feature film screenplay," in 16mm, color, starring Lawrence Hilton Jacobs, Rosiland Cash, Robert Earl Jones, Earl "The Pearl" Monroe, Sheila Frazier, Dick Williams, and Roscoe Orman. Green titled wrappers, with credits for screenwriters Ballard and Watlington. 137 leaves, with last leaf of text numbered 132, and a laid-in interoffice memo. Photographically reproduced, with photocopied punch holes. Near Fine overall, bound with two gold brads. N° de ref. de la librería 138159
