Rare early appearance of one of DeFoe's most interesting tales. Colonel Jack is an English gentleman who is kidnapped by French privateers and sold into servitude in Virginia in the 17th century, among the slaves, he raises to become overseer and master, then seeks to restore his fortune on the high seas and in Europe. The theme of slavery in America is key to the story and the best afro american item among the greats of English literature. Fine literature. In modern rather simple dark calf with black leather labels and fine marbled endsheets. Rare. No copy of any quality of any kind for sale anywhere in the world now. N° de ref. de la librería 003406
