This is the first volume of the set, including a prologue in which the origins and early development of mounted warfare are discussed, followed by the Waterloo Campaign of 1815. This volume covers the period from 1816-1850. During this period, the Cavalry were chiefly in action in India, fighting in a number of wars from the Nepal War, through to the First Afghan and First and Second Sikh Wars. 8vo, 336pp. Illustrated with black & white plates. Hardcover, bound in original cloth with pictorial dustjacket. In very good condition. Firm binding and crisp, unmarked, interior. No signs of prior ownership. Minor wear to extremities.
