Descripción

8vo. Grey cloth. xviii, 184pp. Fine. Tight, handsome facsimile reprint of the third edition (1863) of this title first published by A. Williams and Company of Boston in 1862, being a lecture delivered before the Massachusetts Historical Society. The anti-slavery stance of Livermore (1809-65), a wool merchant and book collector, showcases the progressive views of many founding fathers regarding slavery -- which is likely what brought this piece to Lincoln's attention when he composed the Emancipation Proclamation. A volume in Kelley's "Reprints of Economic Classics" series. N° de ref. de la librería 33529
