Original printed wraps 15x21cm. One of 6000 copies printed by JT&S in Nov 1975. 44pp including double-page map and official adverts. Fine, with small faint date stamp to the front. Part of a series of country guides issued by the Board of Trade at various points since the 1940s, this was prepared to give market seeking British exporters essential practical information prior to and during a visit. This opens with a recommendation to arrange a trip that ensures the majority of time will not be covered by the Muslim weekend, and with the Commercial Secretary's contact details at the Embassy. Dating to Kuwait's "Golden Era", sections cover general information (geography, people, towns, climate, language, health, translation service, social customs, religion, hours of business etc); travel (to and within Kuwait - there are good roads connecting Kuwait City to the south including Ahmadi, and taxis or self-hire cars are recommended); hotels, restaurants and tipping ("generally the standard of food is good"); postal, telephone, telegraph and telex; economic factors; import and exchange control regulations; methods of doing business; reading; and Government and commercial organisations. The map of Kuwait City gives street names and identifies the locations of British Embassy and Residence buildings, the Sheraton and Hilton, main banking centre, the Ministries of Electricity and Water, and Public Works, and the Chamber of Commerce.
