Descripción

The first book to be illustrated AND written by picture book specialist, Tudor Humphries. A simple text and beautiful, big, soft-colored paintings make for a lovely picture book for the very young. Strategically placed and shaped cut-outs allow for glimpses of the next page. A fine copy in very good, slightly edgeworn dust jacket with one internally repaired creased tear down top of front flap fold. N° de ref. de la librería 000249

Sinopsis:

"The preschooler who narrates this story finds that whenever the situation appears out of control, there's only one answer: to hide - behind the couch, in the hidey hole under the stairs, under the dinner table, the bed, the bedcovers." - Kirkus Reviews

From Kirkus Reviews:

The preschooler who narrates this story finds that whenever the situation appears out of control, there's only one answer: to hidebehind the couch, in the hidey hole under the stairs, under the dinner table, the bed, the bedcovers. When the child makes her mother angry by tossing her dinner onto the floor, she goes under the table to scold a naughty stuffed rabbit. The wicked rabbit looks properly admonished; throughout the cunningly crafted sequence of cutaway pastel illustrations, the stuffed animals react to the child's imaginative forays in a way that is thoroughly gratifying. The child admits that making a ``small sound'' is a good way to allow herself to be found, and readers can see that her dignity is intact. A wise, gently humorous book, perfect for all those who have ever attempted to run away and have been only too glad to have their plans thwarted. Personally, I don't like my books to look and feel like a library book, so I don't use those adjustable jacket protectors like Brodart, Gaylord, etc. Where appropriate, books are supplied with their jackets protected by a thin, clear, archival quality acetate film which is loosely fitted with no tape or adhesive but which provides protection without de...
