Descripción

"Caught between profane and divine realities, my subjects have faced their own morality, mourned the loss of their breast and moved into the land of grace. This acceptance of suffering has enriched their soul and illuminated its shadowed existence. Their participation in this project is a way to share with the reader the acknowledgement that piety can strengthen us at a time of adversity. Throughtout this journey I have tried to capture in these images and words an intimacy that is both accessible and remote. The poems are my impression of their trials and transformational stories, cast in first person to carry the melody of each women's voice. It is my wish that, collectively, they create a chorus of hope." This book has 87 pages and is profusely illustrated. Size: 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. N° de ref. de la librería 064798

Acerca de

Sinopsis:

Heroines is an inspiring collection of black & white portraits and poetry that illuminates the trials and spiritual transformation of 21 Minnesota women who have faced breast cancer. Nikpay s compelling verse reflects her Persian influence in which contradictions and opposing emotions are celebrated as part wisdom and intuitive knowledge. The book also includes an essay by renowned author Thomas Moore that eloquently guides the reader to shape and influence their healing journey. Moore s essay entitled How To Be Healed By Your Illness will prove profoundly useful to the newly diagnosed and all those who are touched by breast cancer. Heroines is published by Orion/Zenith Services Inc., a nonprofit social services agency based in the Twin Cities.
